ROTEK Industrial Endoscope Review

ROTEK Industrial Endoscope

Anyone looking to pick up a quality, compact, and easy to use endoscope for working on their car, for troubleshooting their HVAC system, to dig deep into their plumbing, or to just use their endoscope whenever they wouldn’t have been able to see around a corner or into tight spaces are going to really like everything the ROTEK Industrial Endoscope has to offer.

This standalone unit also guarantees that you aren’t going to have to use your delicate and expensive smart phone when you want to use an endoscope the way that some of the modern Wi-Fi units require.

You don’t have to worry about bringing your smart phone into some pretty dirty and dangerous situations, and you certainly don’t have to worry about smudging up your smart phone screen with hands that are anything but squeaky clean.

Instead, you’ll gain access to a powerful and intelligently designed all-in-one style endoscope that “just works” right out of the box. It features full high definition color video and still image capture technology, a decent length cable probe, and an easy to use overall that offers plenty of power features for power users but won’t make DIYers or homeowners scratch their head, either

Key Features

The 4.3 inch full-color LCD screen on the ROTEK Industrial Endoscope unit is one of the best in the business, perfect for real-time viewing of images and video that is being provided by the endoscope as well as for playing back anything you capture on your device.

The entire unit is also IP 67 waterproof rated through and through, which means that you can submerge the camera directly underwater – or run it through pipes and plumbing that have water actively running through it – and not have to worry even just a little bit about the safety or security of your endoscope.

Six adjustable LED lights (closer to the blue spectrum of light as well) provide for plenty of visibility in otherwise totally dark scoping situations as well. The camera is able to shoot in 1080p high definition and record still images in stunning high-definition as well, another standout feature that helps to separate it from the rest of the pack.

Control Setup

The control pad on the ROTEK Industrial Endoscope is almost identical to what you’re going to find on other top-tier all-in-one endoscope units, with an eight button main control scheme directly on the right-hand side of the control pad – next to the 4.3 inch LCD readout screen – and a couple of trigger controls on the top and back of the unit itself.

Some people complain that compared to more modern Wi-Fi and wireless enabled endoscopes this “old school” approach to controlling the camera setup is a little bit outdated and a little bit antiquated.

Others – particularly those that work in dirty industrial situations with hands that are anything but perfectly clean – understand exactly how important it is to have the tactile feedback of physical buttons compared to the ultra-slick feeling of a touchscreen device.

Camera Quality

The camera quality of the ROTEK Industrial Endoscope is top-tier as well, making the most of a two megapixel 1080p high definition professional camera that uses a CMOS sensor capable of picking up light in even the most lowlight situations.

Obviously, you’ll also be able to power on any of the six included LED lights at the end of this cable probe to get better illumination should you need it – but the ability to get HD images even without these lights thanks to the CMOS sensor is nothing to sneeze at.

Still images can be recorded in four different resolutions depending on how compressed you want them to be and how much space you’re looking to save, something we will begin to dive into in just a second.

Capture and Storage Options

The capture settings for the ROTEK Industrial Endoscope are about as simplified and as streamlined as can be and are real “One Touch” options that make this whole process effortless.

There is a dedicated capture button directly on the face of the ROTEK Industrial Endoscope unit and if you want to capture still images you only have to quickly press that button down and then release it. Every time you do so a new high definition still image will be captured and saved to the onboard memory or to the accessory TF storage card that you can purchase separately.

If you want to capture video image all you have to do is press the same dedicated capture button down but then hold it for the duration of the video that you want to capture. Once you have all the footage you need simply release the button and that quick clip is sent to the same storage area.

Battery Life

Battery life is rock solid thanks to the 2600 mAh battery leveraging lithium-ion technology inside of this unit. You can expect to get 3.5 hours of continuous run time right out of the ROTEK Industrial Endoscope unit, and the quick charge capabilities mean that you can go from a totally dead battery back to about 75% in no time at all.

It doesn’t get much better than that!

Probe Length and Flexibility

The semi rigid design of the 5 m long cable guarantees that you will be able to snake around and into tight spots and sharp corners without any real headache or hassle whatsoever, but also guarantees that you will be able to enjoy stable and solid video and image capture without a lot of shake and wiggle the way that limp cable designs inevitably bring to the table.
